The UFC 282 early prelim card features three bouts, all of which will be previewed in this post. It will feature a featherweight bout between rising star Billy Quarantillo (pictured above left) and veteran Alexander Hernandez (pictured above right). It will also see the UFC debuts of three different fighters. All win probabilities are based on a fighter’s CC Rating and their place in the CC Rankings.
Cameron Saaiman vs. Steven Koslow (Men’s Bantamweight)

Subjective Spin on Objective Reality: Both men come into this one with undefeated 6-0 records. Koslow steps in on very short notice after Ronnie Lawrence dropped out last week. Under normal circumstances, I might give the edge to Koslow given his pure grappling prowess. Every one of his fights have ended in a submission win. However, with little time to prepare, Saaiman should be able to close the door. Koslow will have to shoot early and often. Expect the South African to fend it off and perhaps find a KO once Koslow’s gas tank is expended.
Editor’s Pick: Saaiman
Erik Silva vs. TJ Brown (Men’s Featherweight)

Subjective Spin on Objective Reality: This is a low-key great matchup between two well-rounded fighters who find themselves in very different positions. The Venezuelan Silva is making his UFC debut after winning the Lux Fight League featherweight title and getting a first round finish on Dana White’s Contender Series. Brown, on the other hand, is 2-3 in his UFC career and currently finds himself dead last in the Cage Calculus divisional rankings. Oddsmakers say this is a toss-up. Give the tie to the fighter with the higher finishing rate and more experience. Brown likely doesn’t belong all the way in the basement. A win here should bring his rating up to about where it belongs in the grand scheme.
Editor’s Pick: Brown
Billy Quarantillo vs. Alexander Hernandez (Men’s Featherweight)

Subjective Spin on Objective Reality: This is an early sleeper candidate for fight of the night. Hernandez is moving down for the first time from lightweight. That could sap some of the power we’ve seen on display in prior fights. Quarantillo is definitely an unorthodox fighter, but he can finish a fight from anywhere. If Hernandez has to get sloppy to try to put him away, it could be to his benefit. Both fighters will be looking for a finish to get this one over and done with, given the threat across the octagon.
